Terry McMillan, author of Waiting to Exhale and How Stella Got Her Groove Back, is the keynote speaker at tonight's (April 27) fundraising event and celebration of 25 years of the Community Preparatory School of Providence, Rhode Island.
McMillan's work frequently portrays the lives of African-American women. Her success has led her to professorships at top universities, multi-million-dollar film deals, and numerous awards for her New York Times best-selling books.
The evening will include McMillan sharing some of the highlights of her career, book signing by the author, and fabulous fare provided by Mill's Tavern. The festivities will start with a VIP Champagne Reception at 5:30pm and the main affair will commence at 6:30pm.
The Community Preparatory School's mission is to "challenge minority and low-income children of Rhode Island to succeed in college-preparatory high-school programs and to become community leaders."
