Hank Willis Thomas: Primary Sources and Tony Fitzpatrick: The Secret Birds and Other Works are on view at the David Winton Bell Gallery until October 25, 2015. Hank Willis Thomas is a contemporary visual artist and photographer whose work centers around themes of race, advertising, and popular culture. Primary Sources features mixed media sculptures, retroreflective screenprints and a five channel video installation exploring historical narratives for the present.
Tony Fitzpatrick: The Secret Birds and Other Works shows a fantastical collection of mixed-media drawings of both real and imaginative species. Each animal is a central cartoon-like drawing, surrounded by found images and ephemera. Other works featured in the exhibit include celebratory etchings of Chicago's subculture.
Malcolm Grear Designers created the invite, brochure, posters, web banners and signage for the exhibits.
