In honor of the Rhode Island School of Design, Museum of Art’s new Chace Center (designed by architect José Rafael Moneo), renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly created a unique, site-specific exhibition.
The exhibition, which includes over 2,000 individual glass pieces, opens Friday September 26.
Dale Chihuly, a former RISD professor and founder of its glass department, has long been associated with RISD.
Chihuly asked Malcolm Grear Designers to create this exhibition's large-format, 48 page catalogue entitled “Chihuly at RISD.” The catalogue which showcases 35 full page images, also features the work of 9 of Dale's former students, including Howard BenTré and James Carpenter. Malcolm Grear, a long-time friend of Chihuly, designed his logotype and first catalogue in the 80s.
